# Wenna setup

Wenna lets the user's personal agents (Instinct, Muse, Dot and others) share what the user tells them, so they stop copying between them. It is a small MCP server over one SQLite file, an open-source experiment from the team at Kinelo. Source: https://github.com/uni-industries/wenna

You are setting it up for the user. Do the steps you can; walk them through the rest one at a time, in plain language.

## 1. Ask

- Which personal agents they use.
- Personal agents run in the cloud and connect by URL, so Wenna needs to be hosted at an HTTPS address (steps 2–3). Only if every agent runs on this computer can they skip hosting: steps 2 and 4.

## 2. Install

macOS and Linux:

```sh
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/uni-industries/wenna/main/scripts/install.sh | bash
wenna version
```

Installs to `~/.local/bin`, no sudo. Other options: [README § Install](https://github.com/uni-industries/wenna/blob/main/README.md#install).

## 3. Host it and connect personal agents

Run `wenna serve` at an HTTPS address. Follow [HOSTING.md](https://github.com/uni-industries/wenna/blob/main/HOSTING.md), starting with "Choose a host" and "For agents setting up hosting". Then add that URL as an MCP connector in each personal agent.

- Name every cost before the user commits. Never accept billing yourself.
- The token lives in `~/.wenna/token`. Never print it or put it in chat.

Check: one agent saves a test fact, another recalls it, then forget it.

## 4. Agents on this computer

An agent that runs on this computer connects to the hosted URL too, or it keeps a separate copy. With no hosting, it runs `wenna stdio` instead: [HOSTING.md § Apps on this computer](https://github.com/uni-industries/wenna/blob/main/HOSTING.md#apps-on-this-computer).
